Charter Explainer

The world chessboxing charter aims to develop and enforce a single set of rules.

It is important for the development of the sport that this is done fairly, and the interests of the membership as a whole are held above those of any individual, individual member or group of members. Therefore, the organisation will be a not-for-profit organisation and cannot favour the commercial interests of any one member or group of members. All members will have to submit information about who controls them so that control of the world organisation cannot be obtained by controlling more than one member organisation.

To give people confidence to join, contribute and grow the sport the charter ensures that those contributing most to the sport are in control of it. To be an associate member organisation you must contribute fighters to the sport. To be a full member you must run chessboxing events. Each associate member has one vote, full members have two votes. Membership fees will be determined by the members, are to be kept to a minimum and will be proportional to the number of votes held.

Members will have the final say on all decisions unless delegated to the committee. Day to day operations can be delegated by the members to an appointed committee selected by the members on an annual basis. A president is elected by the members and will be solely tasked with governance of the world organisation (i.e. ensuring the charter is followed) and will not have a vote on any matters.

An organogram of this structure can be found over leaf.

Please understand that this document is a summary of the charter and is indicative. For a complete understanding of the charter please read it carefully.
